Singer, songwriter. Jackson was born August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, to an African-American working-class family. His father, Joseph Jackson, had been a guitarist but had put aside his musical aspirations to provide for his family as a crane operator. Believing his sons had talent, he molded them into a musical group in the early 1960s. At first, the Jackson Family performers consisted of Michael's older brothers TitoJermaine, andJackie. Michael joined his siblings when he was five, and emerged as the group's lead vocalist. He showed remarkable range and depth for such a young performer, impressing audiences with his ability to convey complex emotions. Older brother Marlonalso became a member of the group, which evolved into the The Jackson 5.
Behind the scenes, Joseph Jackson pushed his sons to succeed. He was also reportedly known to become violent with them. Michael and his brothers spent endless hours rehearsing and polishing up their act. At first, the Jackson 5 played local gigs and built a strong following. They recorded one single on their own, "Big Boy" with the b-side "You've Changed," but it failed to generate much interest.
The Jackson 5 moved on to working an opening act for such R&B artists asGladys Knight and the Pips, James Brown, and Sam and Dave. Many of these performers were signed to the legendary Motown record label, and it has been reported that Gladys Knight may have been the one to tell Motown founder Berry Gordy about the Jackson 5. Impressed by the group, Gordy signed them to his label in 1968.
Relocating to Los Angeles, Michael and his brothers started work on their music and dancing with their father as their manager. They lived with Gordy and also with Supremes singer Diana Ross when they first arrived there. In August 1969, the Jackson 5 was introduced to the music industry at a special event, and later served as the opening act for the Supremes. Their first album,Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5, hit the charts in December of that year. It's first single, "I Want You Back," hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1970.
More chart-topping singles quickly followed, such as "ABC," "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There." At the age of 13, Jackson launched a solo career in addition to his work with the Jackson 5. He made the charts in 1971 with "Got to Be There" from the album of the same name. His 1972 album, Ben, featured the eponymous ballad about a rat. The song became Jackson's first solo No. 1 single.
For several years, Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 maintained a busy tour and recording schedule, under the supervision of Berry Gordy and his Motown staff. Gordy wrote many of the songs recorded by the group and by Michael Jackson as a solo artist. The group became so popular that they even had their own self-titled cartoon show, which ran from 1971 to 1973.

chris brown the dancer

chris brown biography.

May 5, 1989 is certainly an important day for Chris Brown lovers as that was the date he was born. Christopher Maurice Brown, "Chris Brown," as known to his fans, has tried a lot of things---from singing, to dancing, and even occasional acting. He is one of the best R & B singers in the United States, boasting a nomination in the Grammy Award, to be specific, under the category of: "Best Contemporary R & B Album, the title of Artist of the Year in 2006, and three Billboard awards for his single entitled "Poppin."

Chris Brown grew up in Virginia, and was the son of Clinton Brown and Joyce Hawkins. His musical talent became more evident under the care of his Aunt. Together with his cousins in Arkansas, Chris usually performed in various talent shows in the city. Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder, Usher, Michael Jackson, etc. are singers whom he considers as his musical influences. Chris' first dream was to become a rapper. It was during his teenage years, however, when he was discovered in their family's gas station by a production team based locally, transformed into a vocalist, and sent to New York to start recording.

"Run It!" was his debut single which was produced by Scott Storch. "Run It!" also had Chris work with famous artists such as Bow Wow, The Underdogs, and many more. Just the first week when his album was introduced, more than 150,000 copies were purchased by his supporters. It became so successful that it sold millions of copies not only in the United States, but all over the world.
The success of his career in singing also opened doors for Chris Brown into the world of acting. He has, in fact, appeared on various television shows such as "The O.C." during its fourth season, in a total of three episodes, and The Brandon T. Jackson Show during its pilot episode. Chris also had his movie debut in "Stomp the Yard," featuring other artists like Ne-Yo, Columbus Short, etc. He was also given the lead in the film entitled: "This Christmas," which is a combination of the drama and comedy movie genre.

Chris Brown's fame, however, was tainted by controversies pertaining to his relationship with his singer-girlfriend Rihanna. He has been taken into custody for felony battery and is still facing charges for making criminal threats and assault after a violent dispute with Rihanna. At present, Chris Brown also had his name taken off the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards' list of nominees because of the ongoing sea of issues he is facing.

In My Room

Fourteen year old Cody Simpson is from Gold Coast Queensland, Australia, and never dreamed that he would be one day touring across the world and living in L.A. Back in 2009 Cody started recording songs by other artists and putting his version on YouTube. Cody did covers of Jason Mraz’s song “I’m Yours” and Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” and “Senorita” and many more. Eventually Cody started posting his own songs as well, like “One,” and people quickly caught on to this talented cutie’s potential.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Cody was discovered on the internet by star producer Shawn Campbell (who has produced for artists like Jay-Z), who signed him as soon as possible to Atlantic Records, and flew the Aussie kid out to America to perform and make music professionally. By the end of May 2010, Cody had released his first official single “iYiYi” featuring rapper Flo Rida! The only catch to getting signed—Cody had to leave Australia for L.A. and start his life as a pop star.

Cody Wants Candy

bruno mars king of loves

Singer, songwriter. Born as Peter Gene Hernandez on October 8, 1985, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Bruno Mars grew up in a very musical family. His father, Pete, was a Latin percussionist from Brooklyn, and his mother, Bernadette ("Bernie"), was a singer. Mars received his nickname, Bruno, while he was still a baby. "The name Bruno came from baby times," older sister Jamie explains. "Bruno was always so confident, independent, really strong-willed and kind of a brute — hence the name Bruno, and it kind of just stuck."
In Waikiki Beach, Mars' family performed a Las Vegas-style revue that included Motown hits, doo-wop melodies and celebrity impersonations. Growing up around entertainers, Mars began picking up musical instruments from early childhood. "I've always had a drum set, a piano, a guitar... and never got trained to play. It was just always there, he recalls. That's just how I learned, just being surrounded by it my whole life." At the age of four, he joined the family musical act as an Elvis impersonator and quickly become one of the stars of the show. He continued to perform with his family throughout his childhood, and as he approached adolescence he added Michael Jackson to his impersonation repertoire.
Mars attended Roosevelt High School, where he and several friends formed a band, The School Boys, performing classic oldie hits alongside his family's act at the Ilikai Hotel in Honolulu. Mars credits his fearless stage presence to his unusual childhood. "Performing from such a young age just got me so comfortable on stage," he says. "Growing up performing — that was normal for me. Everyone in my family sings, plays instruments. It's what we do."
After graduating from high school in 2002, Mars decided to leave Hawaii for Los Angeles at age 17. During his first few years in California, he struggled to make a breakthrough in the music industry. And especially because he had performed so frequently while growing up in Honolulu, Mars grew frustrated with waiting for his career to move forward. It was during this period that Mars first turned to songwriting. "I only started writing songs when I moved up to L.A., because when I was in Hawaii I never really needed to," he recalls. "But it stemmed from just learning that you have to do everything by yourself. It's not like what you see in movies, where you walk into a record company and you're given all these great songs to sing. You have to write the song the world is going to want to hear and play it over and over again. I learned that the hard way here in L.A."
A friend introduced Mars to songwriter Phillip Lawrence, who agreed to help Mars compose material. They presented a song they had written and recorded to a record label, who liked it but wanted one of their own artists to perform it. Mars recalls, "We were so broke and struggling, we had to do what we had to do, so we ended up selling the song." Initially Mars was disappointed, but he says, "The light bulb went off. I decided to push the artist thing aside and get into the business this way. We can write songs and produce songs, so we just really focused our energy into writing for other artists. That's how it all began." By the late 2000s, Mars started finding success by writing songs for other popular artists such as Flo Rida's smash hit "Right 'Round," Brandy's "Long Distance," Travie McCoy's "Billionaire" and K'Naan's "Wavin' Flag," the theme song for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

justin bieber the belieber

Birthday:
 March 1, 1994

Birthplace: Stratford, Ontario, Canada
Listen to 16-year-old singing phenomenon Justin Bieber and you’ll realize he is light years ahead of other pop singers his age. Justin's first release, My World, went platinum and gave him the highest debut by a new artist. Justin was also the first artist to chart seven songs from a debut on Billboard's Hot 100!

It's hard to imagine Justin Bieber without his legion of screaming fans, but Justin had a humble start. After posting dozens of homemade videos on YouTube in 2007, putting his unique spin on songs from artists like UsherNe-Yo and Stevie Wonder, Justin racked up over 10,000,000 views on his own.

Canadian Idol

But the Canadian native who grew up an only child says he sort of started singing by accident when he entered a singing competition called Stratford Idol. The other contestants had been taking singing lessons and had vocal coaches while he was just singing around the house. He was only 12 and he won second place.

That’s when Justin started posting footage online. He put videos of himself singing on YouTube, mainly to share with friends and family. But as it turned out, other people were watching those videos and started subscribing to them. One of those people would eventually become Justin’s manager.
